The People Of The Rome Ring is a band in 925 sterling silver carved with a row of figures from ancient Rome: emperors, philosophers, gladiators and ordinary citizens standing together around the band. Each is cut in relief in draped robes, and the postures follow those of classical Roman sculpture.
No figure is raised above the others or given the front of the ring, so an emperor stands at the same height as a citizen and the crowd is read as one. The ring holds the city as its people rather than its rulers, worn as a symbol rather than a religious piece.
