The Byzantine Necklace is a chain in 925 sterling silver worked in the Byzantine pattern, a weave in which pairs of links are folded back into one another so the chain grows as a run of interlocked knots. The pattern is named for the goldsmithing of the Byzantine Empire.
Each knot sits at right angles to the one before it, so the chain reads as a rounded rope from every side. The weave is dense enough to stand alone and heavy enough to hold a pendant without losing its line. It closes with a lobster clasp and is worn as a chain rather than as a symbolic or religious piece.
