The Herringbone Necklace Chain is a chain in 925 sterling silver made of flat slanted links laid tight against one another in alternating directions, the arrangement that gives the pattern its name from the skeleton of the herring. No gaps are left between the links, so the chain forms a solid ribbon.
Because that surface is unbroken, it behaves more like a strip of polished metal than a chain, reflecting in one continuous sheet and lying completely flat at the collarbone with no separate strand to twist out of line. It closes with a lobster clasp.
