The Saint Michael Archangel Cufflinks are a pair of cufflinks in 925 sterling silver, each face carrying the figure of Saint Michael, the archangel of Christian tradition named as commander of the heavenly army. He appears as a full standing figure with sword and shield, the attributes by which Western art identifies him.
Fitting a whole figure onto a cuff link is the problem this design solves: sword and shield are kept large enough to read at that size, and the antiqued finish darkens the ground so the outline stays clear. Michael is carried as a cultural emblem of courage and justice rather than as a devotional object.
